Playing and saved progress

You can play without an account or providing your name or email. Answers are checked in your browser. Phonemo does not run a game server that stores your guesses or maintain a player database. Site analytics, described below, can still record how you use the page.

Browser localStorage remembers your light or dark theme preference and saves your daily edition, mode, start time, accumulated visible time, round, incorrect guesses, hints revealed, and completion results. This lets you resume and share your result. Data stays on this device and browser. Clearing site data removes it. If storage is blocked, you can play, but your run may not survive a reload.

Old Phonemo progress may remain in browser storage from the previous version. The new game uses separate storage keys and does not import those records.

Website delivery

Our hosting provider receives technical information needed to serve and secure the website, such as IP addresses, requested URLs, browser information, and request times. These hosting records are separate from your locally saved game history.

Microsoft Clarity analytics

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use Phonemo so we can fix problems and improve the game. Clarity captures how you interact with the website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay. That can include pages viewed, clicks, taps, scrolling, the buttons and tiles you select, and device and browser information.

Website usage data is collected using first- and third-party cookies and similar technologies. Microsoft processes this data for us and may also use it for site optimization, fraud and security purposes, and as described in its own privacy statement. We do not use Clarity to identify you by name, and you do not enter personal details to play.

Google advertising technology

The game page includes Google AdSense and Google’s consent-message loader for the site’s advertising setup. Google may process device information and use cookies or similar technology under the applicable settings and consent choices. A loader’s presence does not mean this site has been approved to serve ads.

Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Where available, use the consent controls provided by Google. Our consent-message configuration is managed separately in the advertising account.

Sharing and contact

Copying a result writes spoiler-free result text to your clipboard. The Share button may open your device’s sharing interface. Phonemo does not automatically send your result to other people.
